Pet Medical Care Team Helps Provide Spay and Neuter Services in Panajachel, Guatemala

Dr. Ormond and members of the Pet Medical Care team recently traveled to Panajachel, Guatemala, to take part in a veterinary outreach project focused on helping stray and feral cats and dogs.

Dr. Ormond was joined by team members Alex and Noa. While in Guatemala, they partnered with Ceta La Vet, Casa Sulis, and veterinarians from other parts of the world, including Australia. Together, the group worked to provide much-needed veterinary care in a community dealing with a large stray and feral animal population.

Over the course of 3 days, the team performed 375 spay and neuter surgeries.

Spay and neuter work has a lasting impact on communities. It helps reduce unwanted litters, limits animal overpopulation, decreases suffering, and supports healthier conditions for both animals and people. In areas where access to veterinary care may be limited, these outreach efforts can make a meaningful difference.

For Pet Medical Care, this work reflects a core belief: veterinary medicine reaches beyond clinic walls. Whether serving pets here in Idaho or helping communities abroad, our team is committed to improving animal health through compassionate, practical care.

We are grateful to Ceta La Vet, Casa Sulis, the international veterinary teams, and the local community members who made this project possible. We are also incredibly proud of Dr. Ormond, Alex, and Noa for representing Pet Medical Care with skill, teamwork, and heart.
